The Information Services Manager for Legal Support position will be responsible for working with the Chief Litigation Counsel and/or his delegates in implementing, overseeing, and continually improving the IT processes and systems related to the Litigation Management Program. The position will report into the IS Business Relationship Manager for Legal and will work closely with the Allergan Litigation Team.
This individual will be the point of contact for IS interaction with the Litigation Department. The role requires the individual to develop and foster relationships with key business representatives in IS, the Litigation Department, Vendors, and Consultants to improve the overall strategic IT program and to facilitate completion of IT operational tasks. This resource will also provide periodic IT Litigation Management and Project/System Portfolio updates to relevant stakeholders. This individual will be required to collaborate with IS Operations and the Litigation Team to develop the IT Litigation Management support strategy and execute an aligned IT roadmap. The position will require a mix of IT strategic planning and systems portfolio management as well as hands on project management and IT support for areas of responsibility. Strategic Responsibilities Work with the Litigation Team to develop the IT related activites/strategies to support Allergan’s Litigation Management and E-Discovery Program (e.g., technical architecture, program roadmap, and systems portfolio) Understand the litigation management process at Allergan Maintain strategic relationships with IS, Litigation Department, Vendors, and Consultants to improve overall strategic program and to facilitate completion of IT related operational tasks Stay current on developments in the Litigation Management space with a focus on the technology (e.g., best practices, legal precedents, technology solutions, leading service providers, etc.) Work with the Chief Litigation Counsel (or his delegate) to ensure that the IT litigation management strategy is understood and followed by stakeholders Operational Responsibilities Support the development/maintenance of IS related procedures (e.g., enhanced data preservation, e-mail retention policy, etc.) Develop/Maintain data map identifying where data resides for particular custodian types and how to preserve/collect it Deliver relevant IT related training on policies, procedures, and systems Provide ongoing management and measurement of the effectiveness of systems and IT processes in the Litigation Management space Maintain vendor relationships and ownership of systems (i.e., be the liaison between Legal, Vendors, and IT). Identify ways for vendors to improve services, enhancements, and/or product offerings. IS Support of E-Discovery Responsibilities Coordinate the execution of e-Discovery IS Operational activities requested by Legal including collections, preservations, filtering, etc. Manage the IS organizations’ ability to service Legal’s e-Discovery requirements (coordinate IT resource availability, augment staff if necessary, optimize systems, improve processes, etc.) May be required to serve as 30(b)(6) Witness for Depositions regarding IS processes Coordinate with IS Operations to utilize resources (internal/external) to preserve and collect ESI (e.g., image laptops, collect/preserve data files, etc.) At times, participate in hands-on data preservation/collection activities Project Responsibilities Justify IS projects that will support the Legal/Litigation area through ROI models and proposals Work collaboratively with the Chief Litigation Counsel or his delegate in managing IS related project activities including functional requirements gathering, IS process mapping, identifying potential technical solutions, RFPs, Software Demos, Vendor Selections, and Vendor Contracting Secure Project Funding Develop Project Plans (resource plans, durations, dependencies, etc.) Estimate, manage, and forecast project finances Coordinate project activities according to plan and manage resources appropriately to meet project milestones Participate in IT projects related to Litigation Management Program (e.g., e-mail archive, legal hold notification, records retention systems, data mapping, data loss prevention systems, etc.) Manage projects according to standard SDLC methodologies The Requirements: Education/Credentials Minimum or equivalent of a BA/BS degree is required; advanced degree is preferred PMP Certification a plus EnCase Certification (or other e-discovery certifications) a plus Work Experience - General/Industry Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in Information Technology (IS Project Management, Consulting, etc.) Experience with Litigation Management related solutions highly desired (e.g., hosted document review tools, legal hold management, e-mail vault, e-mail retention/disposition policies, record management systems, etc.) Knowledge of Legal Process and Pharmaceuticals/Biosciences industry highly desired General knowledge of the e-discovery process (i.e., EDRM framework) Must be experienced in vendor management and contract negotiations Work Experience - Strategic Planning Track record of strategy development and management of portfolio and technology roadmaps Experience in requirements gathering, business process mapping, analysis, and redesign Work Experience - Project Management Project management experience, using formal SDLC, project management methodology, techniques, and tools is required. Must be experienced in change management Experience managing staff a plus (internal and consulting resources) Work Experience - Leadership/Communications Interact effectively with senior management and executives Strong ability to provide regular management and functional updates to the teams Ability to facilitate meetings Leadership and management skills with the ability to manage simultaneous priorities and changing deadlines A high degree of tact, diplomacy and discretion in handling priority conflicts, sensitive case matters, and resources constraints. Highly developed interpersonal, oral and written communication, negotiation, facilitation and leadership skills with a commitment to internal/external customer responsiveness. Other Ability to Travel (typically < 10%) Expert knowledge of Microsoft Project Strong business knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio Knowledge of preservation/collection/review tools a plus (FTK, RoboCopy, PowerControls, EnCase, Concordance, and Epiq’s DocuMatrix,etc.) EEO/AA M/F/V/D |
